A sustainable, healthy house Spanish architecture firm ARQZYME has crafted a house that embraces the site's topography and natural environment, for a living experience that is both harmonious and sustainable, due to the use of low environmental impact design solutions.

When biotechnology and architecture meet, the project results are often really innovative but warm and welcoming at the same time, because the use of sophisticated solutions and materials doesn't necessarily have to be synonymous with futuristic forms.
Enter the house designed by ARQZYME in Osona, Spain near the Montseny nature reserve, the heart of the Montseny biosphere reserve which has been protected by UNESCO since 1978, and expanded in 2014 to cover an area of 50,000 hectares. A real green belt in the coastal hinterland of Catalonia that forms the backdrop for a house built precisely using natural materials, reinforced by biotechnology-based innovation.
So, the frame of the house by ARQZYME Healthy Architecture responds to the site's topography with a strong bond between interiors and exteriors. The house has three volumes - one is stone and blends with the exterior drywalls, and the other two are covered in hemp to foster this perfect integration with the environment resulting from the natural materials adopted.
Here, the design and materials are the output of the latest biotechnological research in their own laboratory under the leadership of principal architect Jordi Font: composite materials, combinations of laminated wood and concrete, wood and natural plaster, a green roof. Everything is aimed at harmoniously fitting in with the natural environment and at the same time making the occupants feel good physically and mentally.
They can enjoy a really healthy internal climate thanks to the energy efficiency, latest-generation home automation system and pure insulation against electrosmog. All with fantastic views of the outside, a large garden with pool and the tree-topped mountains, for a relaxing, healthy holiday smack in the middle of a delightful UNESCO heritage site.
